Gloria Victis statue in white marble

This is a Gloria Victis statue in white marble. After the original sculpture by the French artist Antonin Mercie, Gloria Victis ""glory to the vanquished"" (1874) was designed following Frances defeat in the Franco-Prussian war. A winged female allegorical image of Fame (or of Hope) carries to glory the dying hero.
